*Expenditure reports for awards made in 2023 are due by no later than June 30, 2024. However, if you are submitting a proposal for 2024/25 funds, you must also include the 2023/24 expenditure report (OR) a timeframe for the expenditure to be utilized if you have not already submitted it to this office.
It's NEARLY swim lesson season! Sign-ups begin on MAY 1, 2024. Pool staff will be available at City Hall on May 1st to answer your questions.
NOTE: Please complete a separate application for each student. Forms may be mailed in with check or money order payment anytime, but will NOT be processed until May 1st, 2024. City Staff will NOT accept swim lesson sign ups in the City office until May 1st. City staff are not able to answer your questions about which class your student should be in. Swim Instructors will move your student to a different class if necessary, based upon their assessment of your child's swim ability for their safety.
For parents unable to drop off swim lesson applications on weekdays, you can mail in the application with check or money order (OR) drop off your application in person on SATURDAY, MAY 4, 2024 between 9AM and 12PM at CITY HALL (33 Broadway). A pool staff member will be on site to help answer your questions. CHECK or CASH payment is PREFERRED on this date.
At the regular City Council meeting tonight (December 11, 2023) the Council unanimously approved the contract agreement for our new City Manager, Carl Simpson. The City of Jackson wants to help you spruce up your storefront! The Jackson Facade Improvement Program offers up to $2,500 in matching City funds to all businesses in the city limits of Jackson to help improve the appearance of individual building facades, signs and awnings! City Council reserves $15,000 to assist as many qualified projects as funds allow. Visual appearance improvements to areas visible from the street or highway are the top priority. Today, the City of Jackson unveiled the "Martha Quinn Aquatics Program" plaque in honor of the legendary Pool Boss Martha Quinn at the city pool. Mayor Steve McLean, Vice Mayor Chad Simmons, and Councilmember Max Godde were in attendance, along with City Manager Yvonne Kimball and multiple other city staff. Martha's esteemed successors Pool Director Daphne Parker and Pool Manager Skylar Dann were present to show their respect for Mrs. Quinn as well, along with lifeguards London Earnest and Aja Fuller. The City of Jackson expressed their sincere appreciation for Martha's 47 years of commitment to the success of the Jackson Pool programs.
