City Swimming Pool CLOSED to the Public for the 2020 Summer
The City’s swimming pool is closed to the public for the 2020 season due to the pandemic. There will be no swimming lessons or public swimming hours this summer.
Although the State and the County has begun to take steps to re-open, it is unknown when the swimming pool is allowed to open by the Governor. Further, because the stay-at-home orders were issued in March, the City had lost the time needed to plan for the pool programs and recruit and train staff to properly provide for the summer pool programs.
Given how important an asset the pool is to the community, closing the pool for the season was a very difficult decision to make. However, in order to protect the safety of the public, employees and visitors as well as focusing on getting back on our feet financially, the City decided to close the swimming pool and all city run swimming programs for the 2020 season.
It is unfortunate that the Pool has to be closed this summer. City’s pool staff will begin to plan for a safe season in 2021. We hope to see you then.
